Hello,

I am sharing this information at the request of my colleague. This message has been sent to several email list so please pardon any duplication.

Action required by authorized NACO contributors before 11:59 pm (GMT) on Monday, 28 July
As we recently shared, OCLC is working closely with the Library of Congress to support their migration to FOLIO. We’ll continue to communicate information about the actions NACO contributors among the OCLC community should take because of this migration and any impact on OCLC applications.
The Library of Congress enters the next phase of their migration at the end of July, where they will be freezing all authority work and disabling NACO nodes. This impacts OCLC users in the following ways:

  * ACTION REQUIRED TO AVOID RECORD REJECTION BY THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS: By 11:59 pm (GMT) on 28 July, OCLC users who contribute to NACO are strongly encouraged to add or replace all authority records that are in the Saved - In Progress authority file (Record Manager) or Online Authority Save File (Connexion). Any records that are not replaced (records that contain a Library of Congress control number (LCCN)) will require additional work once standard processing returns, because the record will be rejected by the Library of Congress due to the differing 005 values.

  * IMPACT ON OCLC APPLICATIONS: Between 28 July and 19 August, new or edited authority records cannot be submitted via OCLC’s Connexion and WorldShare Record Manager applications.

Once OCLC loads the updated Name Authority File (LCNAF) at the end of this project phase, the value of the 005 field will represent the date an authority record was loaded into FOLIO.
Standard NACO activity in OCLC applications is expected to resume no later than August 19. OCLC will confirm the timeline closer to this date.

For more information, please refer to our FAQ: https://help.oclc.org/Metadata_Services/Authority_records/Library_of_Congress_FOLIO_Migration_FAQ_for_OCLC_NACO_Users

Throughout July, we’ll be sending reminders to the NACO contributors among the OCLC community about the actions required, and any changes to OCLC applications.

If you have any questions for OCLC, please contact Becky Dean (deanr at oclc.org<mailto:deanr at oclc.org>).
