FW: [DCRM-L] DCRM(B) cataloging in OCLC

My boss (hi Jim) reminded me that he had discussed the issue of
duplicate record reporting with Chris Grabenstatter. He told her that we
would use the most convenient means (=doing it from the record itself)
or not at all. She agreed that it would be fine to do it directly from
the record.

Yes, that's true but in my discussion with Chris Grabbenstatter I
emphasized that we would use the most efficient method ... or likely
none at all. She agreed that doing it directly from the record would be
fine.

Turns out there is a special merge request form, so we won't be doing
error reporting on individual duplicate records:

One more little thing to add to this discussion. As previously
mentioned,
there are already many duplicate master records in OCLC (even more now
that
the RLIN records have migrated over to OCLC). I encourage everyone to
use
the WorldCat Duplicate Record Merge Request reporting system to ask OCLC
to
merge them. The form can be found here:
https://www3.oclc.org/app/bibdup/
Just remember to leave parallel language records and records for
microforms/electronic versions alone.
