[DCRM-L] Expert Community Experiment Results: OCLC Webinar invitation

Thanks for posting this, Jackie. At Houghton, we decided to participate
in the "experiment" and have been enhancing master records with such
added entries as genre terms and printers' names. Previously, we were
doing most of our work in our local catalog and having it batch-loaded
out, but, given the changing nature of both OCLC and of our own system,
we felt it a prudent (and perhaps wise!) idea to see what could be
learned by rearranging our work flow. We have yet to conclude that one
way of working is better than the other, so I look forward to
participating in the conversation. - Karen

I can think of strong reasons for conversation among rare book catalogers about what is and isn't appropriate to add to OCLC master records in our context. In this Brave New World of "expert community" involvement with the WorldCat database, my initial instinct is that there could be good justification for enhancing records well beyond what the basic bib record standards encourage.
