Discussion at the BSC Midwinter meeting highlighted the need for a DCRM editorial group to review and coordinate the DCRM manuals on an ongoing basis, bring them into alignment as much as the nature of their respective formats will allow, and resolve inconsistencies. Following up on that discussion, the RBMS Bibliographic Standards Committee announces the formation of a new standing subcommittee, the DCRM Steering Group (DSG).
The new group is charged to
* Provide an ongoing forum for focused collaboration across the constituent DCRM manuals
* Consider matters of consistency and quality within and between the individual manuals, as well as on issues relating to DCRM as a whole
* Engage in close reading of manuals in advance of publication
* Serve as a resource to the various editorial teams
* Identify and bring larger issues to DCRM-L and other forums for community discussion on rare materials cataloging
The current team consists of a convener, and seven members, all with extensive expertise in DCRM, and including a representative from each of the DCRM editorial teams:
* Deborah J. Leslie, convener
* John Attig
* Francis Lapka
* Randal S. Brandt for DCRM(Serials)
* Manon Theroux for DCRM(Cartographics)
* Elizabeth O'Keefe for DCRM(Manuscripts)
* Erin Blake for DCRM(Graphics)
* Nancy Lorimer for DCRM(Music)
The group met last week on Skype to resolve some last-minute issues affecting DCRM(Graphics), now in its final stage of pre-publication editing. The outcomes from that initial meeting on February 12 are posted on the DSG wiki which is available for public view at http://dcrmsteeringgroup.pbworks.com (although only DSG members will be able to edit the pages).
Comments and discussion from the DCRM community are most welcome.
