Does anyone know if there's ever been a campaign to get "United Kingdom" instead of "Great Britain" as the authorized form of the name in the Library of Congress Authorities file?
Our practice is to use LC-NAF as our source for the 752, and to start with the top order political jurisdiction. Unfortunately, that means we end up with things like "752 $a Great Britain $b Northern Ireland $d Belfast" which is just plain wrong.
Maybe time for us to switch to the Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names as our source?
Having our users search on "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" and getting "See: Great Britain" as the result is embarrassing.
