The DCRM2 task force is looking at DCRM(B)

1E4.2.
If a respondent and praeses are given for an academic disputation, treat both names and the words indicative of their function as part of a single statement of responsibility (unless grammatically inseparable from the title proper<http://desktop.loc.gov/search?view=document&doc_action=setdoc&doc_keytype=foliodestination&doc_key=dcrmbTitleSPACEproperSLASHglossary&hash=TitleSPACEproperSLASHglossary&fq=myresources%7Ctrue> or other title information).
/ pro disputatione publica proponebatur praeside Jacobo Fabricio, respondente Johanne Reembbelt

We are wondering why this instruction exists. Does it change the meaning if the respondent is in a separate clause? Is there a problem with this construction: pro disputatione publica proponebatur praeside Jacobo Fabricio ; respondente Johanne Reembbelt
