[DCRM-L] DCRM-L Digest, Vol 109, Issue 33

Another problem with the LBDs is that there is a limited number of fields
available. We recently migrated to WMS. I wanted to save information from
our local catalog and if the field was not valid in the LBD, I had to move
it to a local field. The fields were migrated with all the indicators and
subfields intact, but they were not valid for the new field so any time the
LBD is updated, we have to fix a bunch of errors.

One of the fields that is not available in the LBD is the 300 field. I have
tried to explain to different support people at OCLC that the physical
description will vary for special collections materials but they don't get
it.
