As I'm reviewing the Examples to Accompany DCRM(S), and revving up for teaching Rare Book Cataloging next week, I was reminded that in terms of spelling and style the DCRMs follow the latest editions of the Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS), respectively. I finally bought the bullet and bit into CMOS 17, and while reviewing the capitalization rules (chapter 8), I noticed that a lot had changed since AACR2 Appendix A (itself based on earlier editions of CMOS), that at least in the DCRM(B) world we've continued to follow.

Of special note are increased types of words that no longer get capitalized.
