Hi Julie,
If I were cataloging this piece, I would add it in a 300 $e as you mentioned, as well as the 500 note. However, it’s really dependent on whether all other copies of the book will contain the same print. If that’s the case, in either the same 500 or a separate one, I’d add something like “numbered edition of 250”.
If other copies have a different print, I would stick with the more general 500 note in addition to the 300 $e, and put those copy-specific notes in a 590.
I hope you’ll let us know how you end up handling it!

Subject: [DCRM-L] book with artwork in a folder
Hi there!
How do you handle books that have a piece of artwork that can be found in a folder affixed inside the back cover?
I have several books right now that have such special artwork. I used to put such matter into a 300 +$e ... but now, I am rethinking this.
For one example, It is already cataloged #80459841, but there is no mention of this piece of artwork in the back.
I was thinking about adding a note to the OCLC record ... something like:
500 1 plate (dry point) (17 x 23 cm) in folder inside back cover.
This piece of artwork is also numbered "175/250", so that would be a local note. Or would you put the entire thing into a local note?
590 1 plate, numbered "175/250" (dry point) (17 x 23 cm) in folder inside back cover.
Thank you,
Julie Moore
