Helena,
No problem! I'll share with the list now. I apologize for any typos or
mistakes; I am trying to get out of the office before we are completely
snowed under!
Best,
Katy
MARC field options for books that are part of collections:
1. 710 (Added entry corporate name) with collection name, then $5 for
institution code. Some institutions establish collection names as a
corporate body added entry, with authority record and cross references.
Example: 710 2_ Franklin H. Littell Collection (Temple University) $5 PPT
2. 793 (Local added entry) with collection name:
793 0_ Franklin H. Littell Collection
3. 730 (added uniform title) with collection name and $5 institution code:
730 0_ [collection title] $5 Institution code
Or
730 0_ SCRC $n [collection ID #] $5 Institution code
4. 690 (local subject entry) field with second indicator 4. Only works if
that field is indexed and searchable in the ILS.
690 _4 Jewish Publication Society Collection.
5. 590 local note with name of collection – must make effort to enter
consistently.
590 __ SCRC copy is part of the Philadelphia Jewish Archives.
6. 580 (linked entry complexity note) and 773 (host item entry), used
specifically for a book that is part of an archival collection but has also
been cataloged separately:
580 __ $a Forms part of: Franklin H. Littell Collection (Temple
University).
773 0_ $a Littell, Franklin H., 1917-2009. $t Franklin H. Littell
collection (Temple University) $w (PPT) 2009637307 ß[LCCN no.]

The Special Collections Research Center
(SCRC)<http://library.temple.edu/collections/scrc> is
the principal repository for and steward of the Libraries’ rare books,
manuscripts, archives and University records. Our reading room is located
on the ground floor of Paley Library and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30
p.m., Monday through Friday.
Due to the unique, rare, valuable and often fragile nature of the items in
our collection, and because they are stored in several locations in the
library as well as the offsite library depository, the use of many of these
materials requires scheduling an appointment ahead of time. Special
handling is also required, so we ask that you familiarize yourself with our
policies <http://library.temple.edu/collections/scrc/research> designed to
provide you the greatest possible access to the materials while protecting
and preserving them for future use.
Send inquiries to our general
e-mail<http://library.temple.edu/collections/scrc/ask>,
or call us at (215) 204-8257. You may also write us at: SCRC, Paley
Library (017-00), 1210 Polett Walk, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA
19122. Please include your name and complete contact information, as well
as your specific question.
