[DCRM-L] DCRM-L Digest, Vol 119, Issue 1

AAT has "calligraphy (visual works)" with scope note: "Works composed
primarily of beautiful, elegant letters or flourishes that are typically
created by hand with a pen, either in unjoined characters or in cursive
writing. May also refer to similar works created by computer or another
means." I suppose this could be stretched a bit where the cataloger has
determined that the lettering is prominent enough to be indexed.

TGMII (source code gmgpc) has what looks like the more appropriate
"Lettering (Layout features)". But this seems (ill advisedly) to be limited
to "type elements" as well, though I'm never sure that these scope notes
are not rather carelessly worded--in this case the broader term is "Graphic
design drawings", and the term itself has scope note "Overall arrangement
of type elements (e.g., typeface, type size) in graphic design"--which
leads me to think that "typeface" is being used as a generic term for the
design of alphabetical characters however produced.
